(Prunus persica) eoriginated in China where it was cultivated 3500 years ago. Planted in India, then in the Near East, Alexander the Great introduced it to Europe following his conquest of Persia.
Wild peach that grows on a vine was planted in vineyards in order to detect oidium that attacked the grapevines. Rich in fibers, vitamins A, PP, C and potassium, the peach possesses qualities of antioxidants and vasodilatation due to its high content of flavanols and anthocyanosids.
Its pulp is used to clarify a complexion and give it a glow. The expression “everything is peachy” is not unfounded, since this fruit has anxiolitic virtues derived from chlorogenic acids !
